Wire Wrapped Object at Perennial
Starting with an interesting found object of your choice, learn how to create a unique pendant using entirely recycled materials. In class, we will highlight the beauty of found objects such as sea glass, river stones, salvaged wood or other artifacts by setting it using copper wire. The wire used is old electrical wiring that would otherwise be sent to the refinery. Students will learn wire wrapping techniques to seat their object using recycled copper wire, ending with a beautiful pendant! Some wire wrapping experience is helpful but not required.
Registration closes Monday, August 13
June 20th 5:30-7:30pm Maker's Night.
This will be our last class held at the Hobby Lobby classroom. While the cost of the classroom (free) and convenience of jewelry supplies at the store has made this an easy choice, easy is not always best. Due to Hobby Lobby's discrimination against LGBTQ+ in their hiring practices, and their refusal to provide employees with adequate
reproductive health care options, I cannot justify holding classes in their store. I apologize for the inconvenience in not having an alternative location to announce, and more so for holding classes in a location where many students did not feel comfortable attending. I hope to resume maker's night in August at a new location.
You may have noticed this on the class calendar and thought "what exactly does that mean...?"
Fair question. Rather than a traditional class with one set project that everyone in the class makes, each person works on an individual or self appointed project. For example, Taylor may be finishing a jewelry piece that they started in a class last year but never got around to finishing. I'll give them tips along the way as needed. Aleisha has a large collection of beads she's working through and wants feedback on arranging them into a new design. Sam has a Pinterest board full of ideas but doesn't know where to start. Heather brings an old necklace she wants to learn how to repair. They all come together for Maker's Night and use my tools and pick my brain for ideas and troubleshooting. We chat, learn and feed off each other's creative energy!
What do I need to bring to maker's night?
In the NEED category there's really just one thing...YOU!
I supply tools, have some books for project ideas, and class is held in a craft store so any supplies you need can be bought on the spot!
What can I bring to maker's night?
Jewelry you'd like to fix
Questions ( I love questions!)
Friends! This is a low key atmosphere and chatting and socializing is encouraged
I was approached a few months ago with a request for a "unique engagement ring". Diamonds may be the go to choice for the traditionalist but why pass up the pop of gorgeous color from a gemstone. Sapphires are an incredibly durable stone which makes it perfect for a center stone for a ring. The bezel setting gives the ring a sleek contained design while providing an incredibly durable protective setting! The sterling silver shank is engraved with a floral design, unique but not flashy. The sapphire is blue with green hints depending on the light, a truly unique and gorgeous stone.

Excited to announce I'm teaming up with Perennial to offer new jewelry classes that focus on reusing, recycling and re imagining old materials! It's not often that You find an organization who's values align so closely with your own. Perennial's mission is to "Build a creative culture of sustainability in which discarded items are transformed into valued and cherished resources." I am looking forward to being apart of that mission by offering (initially) two classes which are listed in the link below!
Ivey L. March is the designer, jeweler and owner of Jewelry de Terre.
